5 Gluten-Free Ancient Grains that Help Your Gut

Gluten is a very common ingredient in breads, cereals, and other carbohydrates. Under modern farming methods the gluten levels present in grains are super sky high! It’s been documented to cause possible health complications such as Celiac disease–in general it doesn’t really have any nutritional value either so you won’t be missing out on anything by avoiding it altogether.

High-gluten levels in food can be harmful to your skin. Excessive consumption of it causes problems with the gut, which worsens acne and leads to cystic flare ups. The damage caused by too much gluten damages intestinal walls, letting bacteria seep into the blood stream where they cause an inflammatory reaction on skin that results in acne lesions! Learn more about this here.

While many people have difficulty avoiding gluten altogether, it’s luckily not that difficult to substitute modern wheat out and swap it for something else. We’ve found five healthy ancient grains that will help heal your gut!

1.      Millet

Millet is a cereal crop that’s easy to incorporate into your diet. There are many different colors you can find, as well as various textures depending on how it’s cooked. Millet has both neutral and nutty flavors when finally served which makes for an enjoyable meal with other foods!.

2.      Quinoa

I’m a huge fan of quinoa! I like to use it in Mediterranean-style dishes. It’s got this light and fluffy texture when cooked, so you can add it as the base for your favorite salad recipes. Plus with how protein rich these seeds are, they’re basically an excellent source of nutritional value that won’t make those sugar cravings kick up again either because there aren’t any sugars included with them – just healthy amounts of flavor and nutrition instead!

3.      Brown or Purple Rice

Rice is a popular food that comes in many different varieties. Brown and purple rice are great options for skin-friendly diets because they contain lots of fiber and other helpful nutrients.

A lot of people love white rice, but it’s usually not the best option if you’re looking to establish a healthy diet as it lacks essential vitamins like Vitamin E or selenium which are found in brown or purple rice respectively!

4.      Buckwheat

Buckwheat is yet another seed, but it’s related to rhubarb and has uniquely shaped seeds. It helps protect your body from heart disease because of its high rutin content- a flavonoid that also protects the skin by reducing free radicals in our bodies! Buckwheat contains magnesium which benefits the health of both you skin and your heart.

5.      Amaranth

Amaranth is the newest and most interesting pseudo-cereal, just like buckwheat and quinoa. It’s been a staple of ancient civilizations for centuries but has only recently made its way to modern society as an alternative grain source that holds many benefits not found in other grains. Unlike wheat, amaranth contains two amino acids (lysine and methionine), which are generally low in numerous foods such as meat or eggs–making it a great protein replacement food! Amaranth also offers high levels of iron content while containing three times more fiber than whole wheat breads with much less calories per serving size; this makes it perfect for those who want to watch their weight without depriving themselves from nutrition sources.
