In this advanced era of beauty and skin care, every woman wants to look radiant for all occasions. Even when she’s simply running an errand, the option of going foundation-free feels so freeing. The trend of skincare as self-care is growing immensely. Caring for your skin needs to be a high priority, because there’s no beauty product out there that can conceal unhealthy skin. First tend to your skin, and then go shop for a fun new outfit!
While maintaining naturally glowing skin is in, going to a professional facialist on a regular basis is no simple task. It takes time and money. For most women, we’re trying to save on both. A simple solution is to buy your own facial devices and products to treat your skin at home.
One of the most effective facials you can do at home is the microcurrent facial. Done on a regular basis (about 3 times per week), this facial can help keep your skin youthful and glowing. I’ve purchased a ZIIP beauty device that helps me to perform microcurrent facials at home. First, let’s discuss what is a microcurrent facial, the benefits, and why the ZIIP is great option for treating yourself to microcurrent facials at home.
What is a microcurrent facial?
A microcurrent facial uses a low voltage current to enhance the skin by improving collagen production and tighten connective tissue. These low-level electrical microcurrents are bio-identical to the body’s own natural frequencies. Working at a cellular level, it increases adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency your cells need to function and repair itself. Based on scientific research, it also helps to form proteins in the cells that produce collagen in the skin.
7 benefits of microcurrent facials:
Microcurrent facials are non-intrusive, don’t require needles, and can be done on a regular basis to uplift tired facial muscles and sagging skin without any downtime. Need to know more to become a fan? Below are seven reasons why I love microcurrent facials and why they are growing in popularity.
1. Tightens skin
This facial can slow down aging by diminishing wrinkles and fine lines by helping your skin repair itself. Microcurrents increase the mitochondria activity inside skin cells. Mitochondria are essential to the overall growth and function of cells, and accomplish a multitude of tasks. Your skin will be given a boost of energy to rejuvenate itself at a cellular level.
2. Promotes natural collagen production
Collagen maintains the elasticity and firmness of your skin. Increased collagen production means firmer and tighter skin. Microcurrent facials can help promote the production of collagen and maintain your skin’s suppleness.
3. Uplifts facial muscles
Microcurrent facials can help shape and firm-up your facial muscles, which can lose definition over time. These low-voltage currents can help realign these tiny-but-ultra important facial muscles. If you’re looking for a more angled jawline or pronounced cheekbones, this facial could be an amazing natural solution. Microcurrent facials can help keep ‘jowls’, or sagging skin below the jawline, away!
4. Practically painless
Microcurrent facials can be classified as a Botox alternative and are not painful at all. You’ll feel a slight pinch of that comes from the low-voltage electrical current, but it won’t make you tear up. Just be careful near the delicate eye-area.
5. Helps diminish acne
Microcurrent facials also deep cleanse your pores and kills the bacteria near the surface of the skin. It may help in preventing acne breakouts.
6. Results within reasonable time
With consistency (3X per week is usually recommended), you may see a difference within 5 to 10 weeks by using a microcurrent facial device at home. Results can be more significant if you also see a professional facialist and continue to use a microcurrent facial device regularly at home in between visits.
7. Glowing Skin
After several treatments, you’ll see a clear difference in your skin texture before and after. You may see more even skin tone. Microcurrent facials help your skin glow from within, because it’s literally more energized!
Warning: I have read in rare instances, microcurrent facials can cause broken capillaries. This has not been my experience at all, but I’m mentioning this as a safety precaution. Please do not over-do.
Why I chose the ZIIP Beauty Device for at home microcurrent facials
The ZIIP has the newest technology available for at-home microcurrent facial treatments. It uses nano and microcurrents to penetrate your skin and the results have been effective. It promotes ATP and collagen production by giving your skin a boost of microcurrent energy and triggers the regenerative cellular activity within your skin. Here are five reasons why I chose the ZIIP over other devices:
1. Easy to use
This device is pretty straightforward. Just apply the conductor gel (which is needed for the microcurrent to pass through your skin), press the button on, and start sliding it over the natural contours of your face and around any facial muscles you want firmer. The ZIIP also comes with an App where you can choose the intensity of each facial treatment. The App also has instructional videos to follow along with each treatment.
2. Easy to carry
ZIIP device is handy and easy to carry while traveling. You can take it anywhere in your handbag. This device (along with the conductor gel) is a wonderful travel buddy so you can take care of your skin and enjoy regular facials even while you’re out of town.
3. Natural results
If you do this facial regularly, you’ll see your skin tone improve and increase collagen levels naturally. I’ve always been wary of injections or Botox potentially giving your face an unnatural look. The recommended use is 3X per week.
4. A safe and effective tool for at-home use
I’ve reached out to ZIIP directly and have been informed that 400 microamps is the maximum output that the ZIIP will produce. That’s a lot for an at-home device!
The company has studied for nearly decade on the effects of different levels of amperage on the skin, and have found that lower and slower microcurrents produced the longest lasting effects on the skin. Simply blasting the skin with the highest microcurrent output possible can result in cellular damage. While blasting the skin with maximum output can give a temporary, ‘lifted’ (swollen) look, you’ll notice after about 72 hours your skin looks worse than when you began.
Luckily with this device, you won’t need to go to a professional facialist and have them to treat your skin at a spa or clinic. I love being able to save time, treat my skin at home, and get results within several weeks with consistent use.
5. Cost-friendly
While the cost of the ZIIP might seem high upfront, it’s equivalent to 2-3 professional microcurrent facials at a spa or clinic. If you’re treating yourself to regular microcurrent facials at home, it’s totally worth the cost in the long run. Even the conductor gel can last several months!
My ZIIP Review
The ZIIP is currently my most high-tech anti-aging device that I own. Plus, it also has a bacteria-killing setting for treating blemishes. It comes a golden conductor gel that you’ll need so that electrical currents will work. They also have a hydrating silver gel, which is another option when the golden gel runs out (it costs less). It’s like a “workout†for my face so my skin feels more toned.
If you’ve been feeling tired, just use the energizing treatment and you’ll glow. It made me look more well rested immediately. I love how there are various settings with the app that comes with the device. Whenever the app updates, you could get a new treatment setting with it! If you’re new to micro-current facials, it takes time to get used to the feeling. There’s literally electricity running through your skin. I love being able to define my jawline and get a lifted-look naturally. The settings can accommodate more sensitive users to those wanting something more intense, so you can work your way up. My skin is pretty much acclimated to these energizing settings by now and I’m loving it!Â
